Company history

1991-1995

TRIOPTICS is founded on December 1, 1991, by Mr. Dumitrescu and two partners. The company’s stated goal is to become a world leader in the field of computer-controlled optical measurement technology.

The first products are those in the OptiTest series: autocollimators, telescopes, collimators, computer-controlled spherometers, and the Optomatic series, a precursor to the OptiSpheric® products.

With representatives in the USA and Korea, TRIOPTICS achieves a strong international focus right from the start.

1996-2000

Development focuses on computer-controlled measurement technology: electronic autocollimators, goniometers, centration measurement technology.
MTF test systems are developed in collaboration with Image Science.

TRIOPTICS France is established.

2001-2005

TRIOPTICS is internationally recognized as a leading provider of optical test systems and continuously expands its product portfolio.

The company develops its own MTF test systems, the ImageMaster® series. A new market emerges with the creation of the first mobile phone cameras. The ImageMaster® PRO series evolves into the standard used in the final inspection of mobile phone camera lenses.

With the establishment of TRIOPTICS Japan and TRIOPTICS China, the company further advances its internationalization.

2006-2010

The company develops the SpectroMaster® for measuring the refractive index and OptiSurf® for center thickness and air gap measurements. When FISBA decides to sell its interferometer division, TRIOPTICS acquires it. Today, TRIOPTICS Berlin develops and distributes the interferometers.

Optical measurement technology is also developed for the quality control of intraocular lenses. With this move, TRIOPTICS successfully enters the ophthalmology market.

TRIOPTICS acquires Davidson Optronics in California and establishes TRIOPTICS USA on the same site. TRIOPTICS has also been represented in India since 2006.

2011-2015

Innovation focuses on the active alignment and alignment turning segments:
ProCam® devices actively align the sensor and camera to each other, while the CamTest series is used for the final testing of camera modules.

The ATS 200 and ATS 400 are the first alignment turning stations with fully integrated measurement technology.
The OptiCentric® and OptiSurf® measurement technology is integrated into the alignment turning stations, making them the most accurate on the market.

TRIOPTICS and Unice (our distributor in Taiwan) found TRIOPTICS Taiwan. TRIOPTICS Korea is also established during this period. With representatives in England, Russia and Israel, the company continues to drive forward its internationalization.

2016 - 2020

TRIOPTICS is consistently expanding its product portfolio, continuously improving established measuring methods, and focusing on automating its systems.

Automated solutions such as the OptiCentric® 100 with LensAlign 4D and systems in the ProCam® series boost throughput while significantly reducing rejects and increasing the accuracy of the lens alignment at the same time.

TRIOPTICS now offers customized solutions for the new VR/AR applications market as well.

TRIOPTICS Singapore is founded. Additional dealers in Turkey and Vietnam strengthen the global TRIOPTICS team.

In 2018, the company moves into its new headquarters in Wedel, just 100 meters from where the company started out. Today, approx. 400 employees worldwide work for the success of TRIOPTICS.

Successful completion of the transaction between TRIOPTICS GmbH and Jenoptik AG in September 2020: TRIOPTICS becomes part of the JENOPTIK Group and is gradually integrated into the group.

2021 - Present

TRIOPTICS celebrates its 30th anniversary in business on December 01, 2021. In the meantime, roughly 500 employees worldwide work towards the success of TRIOPTICS.

Kristin Holzhey (CEO) and Simon Zilian (CSO) complement the management board since 01.01.2022 in addition to the already appointed managing directors Eugen Dumitrescu (CEO), Stefan Krey (CTO) and Joern Luethje (CFO).

On April 1, 2022, Eugen Dumitrescu steps down from the management of the Wedel-based company after 30 years at the helm.
